Wriststrong!

I wasn't familiar with Steven* Stephen Colbert's "WristStrong", but during Walt Minnick's announcement last week on his run for Congress, his family and former Idaho Governor Cecil Andrus proudly displayed their wristbands. According to a comment on The Colbert Report's website:

Looking for a product that both expresses your concern for wrist welfare across America and shouts, “I contribution to an important cause I know nothing about*,” to everyone that looks at your wrist? Yes? Then this is the product for you! Colbert Nation WristStrong Bracelet is stylish, chic, and may repel bears (no scientific proof to this claim has been found). Nothing says, "I care about your wrist," like a Colbert Nation: WristStrong Bracelet. My advice? Buy yours today!!! *Proceeds from the purchase of the Colbert Nation: WristStrong Bracelet do not go to a wrist awareness fund.

Order yours today! (Operators are most likely not standing by but are instead eating doughnuts, smoking cigarettes and mocking you.)

Cool family

I have to say, the Minnicks are one cool fam to do something like this at Walt's announcement. This seems to be signaling that we'll see some detouring from the politics-as-usual with this crew.

Disclosure: I go to church with the Minnicks and I was on the Grant campaign in 2006, so I am staying out of this one!

Yellow Ribbon Fund

Just stopping by to let you all know that all proceeds from the sale of the "WristStrong bracelets go to the Yellow Ribbon Fund http://yellowribbonfund.org, an organization dedicated to serving the wounded at Walter Reed Hospital and their families.

As member of the Colbert Nation, and a YRF volunteer, I applaud the Minnicks in their support. I applaud all who in the state of Idaho who truly support our men and women in harm's way and who support them when they return.
