Add 'Lying to Idahoans' to Larry Craig's misdeeds

Larry Craig has announced that he is stickin' around in DC for the rest of his term. This means last month's press conference at the Boise Depot was a carefully-choreographed lie to all Idahoans.

I had hoped Idaho's Republicans wouldn't have sat quietly thru this week, but they're apparently morally bankrupt, too. What else can you call putting party before principle. They're now complicit in Larry's big lie to Idaho.

Crapo and Simpson and Sali are quoted as being in support of Larry Craig's decision, but in DC, Republicans will kick him to the curb, with ethics hearings. Back here in the Gem State, I think we deserve to know how many prominent Republicans (especially those lined up behind him at his resignation Press Conference) knew Larry was lying to Idahoans and when. There was no uproar after Larry's misdialed voicemail came to light. There's been little uproar now. And given the startling way that Republicans are circling their wagons around this lying, hypocritical dirtbag now... how can anyone trust Senator Crapo or Governor Otter or Congressmen Sali and Simpson? With their quiet support, they're endorsing this two-faced bastard.

One last thought: Google story count during this a month ago peaked at over 3000 active news items. The count dropped to fewer than a hundred a few days ago. It's been growing by leaps and bounds since, to 1400 this morning. When the news count hits 3000 and he becomes a butt of jokes again, I suspect Idaho's Republican contingent will 'find their ethical footing' and abandon him.

Which is better:

Assuming 2008 sees a democratic senate/house/presidency, are we better off with Craig, some other Republican freshman, or a Democrat as our next Senator?

Feel free to discuss with specifics and names. Risch, for example, has never had a reputation for playing nice in large groups. Seems like he'd suck at being a Senator.

Well a Democrat of course

Risch will be a little Republican footsoldier with a chit in the big game. He'll be eager to please the powers that be. I shudder to think. I'm just glad he wasn't around when the neocons were at their frothy worst. They are still quite dangerous to our future.

Dovetailing into Mr. Paine's contention I think its up to us to up the political ante on local Republican support for Larry. Despite their public expressions of support they are uneasy about Craig hanging around. Craig's escapdes now have to be wrapped around the state Republicans to cause them some political angst. And lets start with this, Larry's cruising tendencies. What did they know and when did they know it? Surely they were complicit in covering it up and enabling his behavior? You telling me the friends that stand by him today are going to start defending him and his behavior? Let's start in on the hard questions. Lets start doing research on former staffers and other political leaders on just the amount of time spent with Senator Perv. While its not offically a sex offense conviction it certainly is tainted as such in the public's eye.

I just love that GOP convention logo, wide stance, Minneapolis, starry eyes, prison stripes. Local Republicans need to own this guy too.

What's one more lying repub?

If you supported bushco, a yellow ribbon won't 'make it right'.

Craig is a liar, fits this administration to a 'T'.

Did he lie when he signed that confession or is he lying now? Either way, he is a liar.

One more question? How does a "wide stance", facing a comode, reach across his body to pick up a piece of paper on the ground with his right hand????

let them hang themselves

We don't need to do anything yet. Wait until the media lets it go and our dem starts campaigning. Then do ads that show all that were complicit in the cover up and the facts of the behavior. Not that dems care about gay behavior, but hypocritical repubs have to play to a more critical audiance concerning gays and the people that cover for them.

Right now the repubs and the media are paying the ad bills and doing our work for us.
