Told Ya So

I've constantly spoke of how the rhetoric against "those with brown skin" would lead to future violent outbreaks that would cause much more harm than good.

Well, the day of proof has arrived, unfortunately:

The recent video of a Minuteman taking potshots at illegal crossers somewhere on the Mexico borderlands was disturbing not so much for the gunfire -- the man operating the camera hadn't seemed to hit anyone -- as for the running narration he provided: he positively wanted one of the men to come within his range so he could shoot them. He wanted to kill them.

Now, more video from the same gunman has surfaced, and as Casey Sanchez at HateWatch reports, it appears on this video that he did, in fact, shoot someone crossing the border and kill them:

I've regularly warned that the hate speech from people like Clayton, The Village Idiot, Lou Dobbs and Tom Tancredo will eventually lead to a militant sect of the American populace that would only increase in violence as their poorly formed egos were pummeled by their lack of success in the war against brown people. The bad thing now? Just because we're all documenting and screaming at the sky about this latest useless bit of violence, it doesn't mean a damn thing. This is just a beginning of what is to come. People in high positions of influence, such as Lou Dobbs, will continue to lie and manipulate the lowest common denominator of the American society with faux-civility and claims that they are "just watching out for the American people".

This new violence MUST stop. The federal government must now step in to protect illegal border crossings from violent sects on this new evidence. Human life is precious, no matter who, when or where. We are so far beyond trying to correct the issues that have resulted in high illegal immigration and now we're in a whole new place, a place that we won't be able to get out of easily.

I hope I'm wrong this time. I hope the violence doesn't escalate, but once the gangs that control many of the border crossings get word of violent American extremists targeting border crossers I think we're going to see all new levels of force in the illegal crossings.

No one will benefit from this escalation. This will only result in more deaths. Good job, right wing xenophobes that peddle in hate speech, others are about to reap from what you have sown.

Maybe for all of this Clayton will threaten me with his guns some more.
