Killing a man to defend an idea isn't defending an idea. It's killing a man.
Beeeeeeeer-O-Rama! Saturday, June 7th in Idaho Falls

Via the Boise Weekly:
Idaho microbrew lovers can celebrate like a bunch of kids on the last day of school because it's time for the annual Mountain Brewer's Beer Fest in Idaho Falls. Now in its 14th year, the North American Brewer's Association has earned a reputation for putting on one of the greatest beer fests in the Northwest. Year after year, volunteers and crew organizing the event work tirelessly to ensure the festival goes off without a hitch. Most of the volunteers are regular repeats and with their help, the NABA crew has fine tuned their efforts into a well-oiled machine of efficiency and fun.
Part of what makes this particular festival so popular is that, after taxes, all profits go directly to nonprofit organizations like the Idaho Falls Crime Stoppers, the gay awareness and AIDS support group Breaking Boundaries, and a new foundation established by NABA for local charities. Last year, the festival raised more than $50,000. Also, the festival organizers provide free bus shuttles from hotels and local landmarks to and from the event held just outside town at Sandy Downs Race Track. These yellow school bus rides are pretty special in themselves, with choruses of colorful (off key) beer drinking songs as revelers head to and from sampling some of the best microbrews in the country. More than 80 microbreweries are scheduled to pour hundreds of beers, from nationally distributed brewers such as Alaskan, New Belgium, Full Sail, Samuel Adams, Sierra Nevada and Widmer, to local Idaho and Northwest brewers like Big Horn (The Ram), Big Sky, Pelican, Snake River, Laughing Dog and more.

June 7, noon-6 p.m., Sandy Downs Racetrack, Idaho Falls. Tickets are $20 in advance through northamericanbrewers.org or $25 at the gates. For more information, call the Beer Fest Hotline at 208-528-MBBF.

As an update to their article, there are NO hotel rooms available for Saturday the 7th in Idaho Falls, according to the old, fat and slow guy running the marketing for the Mountain Brewer's Beer Fest. There are two other events going on in I.F. that have sucked up every room for let in the city.
If you are going to the Fest, be sure to dress warm and in layers -- it could be a wild weather day. And don't be surprised to bump into mondoblogger Chris from The Unequivocal Notion at the event -- he'll be the guy having way too much fun tasting every beer he can get his paws on and happily judging any spontaneous wet T-shirt contests that may occur in his presence handing out bible passages and Slim Whitman mp3's. Yeah.

There's a slim chance
I can make it. But its slim. Who's driving?
That would depend...
... on where you mean you're driving from, or mayhaps driving to. All I know is, I ain't getting behind the wheel.
Hope you can make it down -- would be rotsa fun.
Yeah I wouldn't either
if I came. Hence the question. Fortunately y'all have plenty of tea totallers (sp) down your way from whom to secure passage.
We'll let D2 drive
He's been judging the beer all week, and says he'll be sick of it by tonight.
Is that even possible?
Sick of beer? d2?
Oh, yeah
Each flight has 6-13 beers. Three flights (sometimes four) per session. A session Tues night, three sessions Weds, two session Thurs, one session Friday. I don't keep count but know the number is between 160-190 beers in a few days.
And mine is an easy/fun job compared to the fest's organizers; a year of prep and a week of eighteen-hour days. But the numbers boggle the mind: an all-volunteer gathering has grown to where it last year generated $50,000 for charity. Total raised for charities ranging from Search and Rescue to the Idaho Falls Arts Council and Big Brothers / Big Sisters over the years is expected to pass a third of a million bucks this year. The local economy sees a burst of tens of thousands of dollars in restaurant and hotel spending from it, too.
I can burn my fondness of beer and my palate out for a few weeks for them apples...
Should'a asked...
We just pulled into IF about an hour ago. Having a brew right now then heading out for dinner.
Went to Pocatello for lunch, Portneuf Valley Brewing on Serephin's recommendation; had the bavarian roll -- excellent. Was expecting to see Tara passed in a booth, but I didn't see her.

Resting up to see you, Chris
Wasn't at the PVB, at home resting most of today so I can make the trek tomorrow. Can't wait!
Awesome!
It'll be good to see ya again!

Coming & Goings
Where you coming and going from, Sisyphus??
Boise
to IF and back again. But I just did it over Memorial Day so the only way to justify it is to see you fine folks, and, of course, the beer. But I'm thinkin' I might be seein' some of you the following week, anywho.
buzzkill
I won't be drinking any so I can drive ya'll if you need me.
You go girl
You're alot closer than I. I fear my wants and desires will be overcome by my duties and responsibilities, yet again.
Ah you're no fun
If you decide you're coming up and don't want to make the leg from Poky to I.F. let me know.
"Ah you're no fun"
Don't think you're the first to say it.;-) Thanks, sister, for the offer.
Better not be cold!
I only brought short sleeves, shorts and flip flops. That's just how I roll when I'm away from the office -- weather be damned!
